CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere says the party has approached the High Court after Zimbabwe Republic Police banned the election campaign launch set for Sunday.

Writing on Twitter, Mahere said the party had approached the Magistrates Court to challenge the ban however the matter was set down for 11 July.

The campaign was initially scheduled to take place on the 9th of July in Bindura.

Mahere said:

The Police unconstitutionally “banned” our Campaign Launch set for Sunday. Our lawyers immediately challenged the illegality.

The Magistrates’ Court erroneously set the matter down for 11 July (2 days after the rally) in violation of the Act. We’ve lodged an urgent review to the High Court.
