The MDC Alliance faction led by Nelson Chamisa has failed to agree on a new party name for use in the upcoming by-elections.

The party’s national council meeting that was held in Harare today ended without any announcement on what name the party will use going forward.

Zimbabweans have been waiting for the announcement for weeks and now await the nomination court sitting on Wednesday 26 January 2022 to see which name the party candidates will be nominated under.

The only announcement of the meeting deliberations came from deputy spokesman, Gift Ostallos Siziba who wrote on Facebook:

When you National Council of the party meeting know that we are there to make key and strategic decisions for the party and the Nation.

Fellow Africans the Democratic Alternative as led by President Advocate Nelson Chamisa is stronger and geared up to the task ahead. #CitizensAction
