Bill Gates spoke to Sixty minutes and said humankind needs to have unprecedented cooperation to counter the current situation. He said its like a world war, but its us against greenhouse gases.
He revealed the key innovations that he is working on, including two power companies, one of them already received $80 Million funding from the department of energy in 2020.
Gates said the way everything is made must change. He is already working on changing how cement, concrete, steel and burgers are made. Gates said there has to be a move to Zero.
His new company that makes cement and steel is called called Carbon Cure.
He said the company’s process sticks CO2 into cement, and they are now at 5%, and have the next generation process that will increase that to 30%.
Gates said he is also investing in a company that makes plant based protein using fungi. he is also experimenting with direct air capture ( Taking CO2 directly from the air).
However, Bill Gates’s craziest ideas are in the energy sector.
One of the companies he is funding is developing an innovative process to pump water into the ground, and then harvesting the energy that comes from the heart.
Nuclear Reactors.
Gates is also working on nuclear power, he says nuclear power is a big part of the future. In 2008 he founded Tera Power, a company that has re-designed a nuclear reactor.
Gates said the nuclear reactor will not use water, but sodium. Gates said this will prevent the failures and accidents of the past.
