Gambakwe Media spoke LIVE to Tinashe Jonas on the Beitbridge modernization project and the challenges at the boarder.
The project which will cost R4.5 Billion is expected to be complete within 24 months.
Key issues to be discussed include:
- Scope of the Beitbridge modernization project.
- Challenges at Beitbridge.
- History of the Beitbridge Border post.
Jonas said there is need to add at least 3 other border crossings around Beitbridge to reduce congestion around the border.
Jonas said Beitbridge is an important economic zone, and should be prioritised in terms of opportunities.
Jonas said there is also a need to improve processes, through the employment of skilled executives and managers at the borders.
Finally, Jonas said corruption at the border is a cancer that needs to be dealt with.
