Movement for Democratic Change Alliance national chairman Job Sikhala has pleaded with the International community to intervene in the humanitarian crisis in Zimbabwe.

Speaking to SABC, Sikhala said the major crisis in the country is the crisis of governance and a regime that does not respect divergent views in the country.

Sikhala who is currently in hiding in fear of abductions said people of Zimbabwe cannot continue on the path of oppression thus there is a growing demand for political freedom.

He said, Mnangagwa does not respect all tenets of democratic discourse many members of parliament are being accused of treason for simple voicing against the ruling party.

On the 14th of February 2020, Sikhala was acquitted of a treason charge after addressing a political rally criticising Mnangagwa and his government.

Sikhala said there is total closure of democratic space in Zimbabwe, Chalton Hwende and Amos Chibaya are also facing treason charges.

Instead of granting people the arena to freely exercise their democratic rights, there is an escalation in human rights violations, there is an increase in arbitrary arrest, abductions and massive torture of the citizens.
