The Sunday News reports that the mayor of Bulawayo councillor Solomon Mguni has rejected calls from his MDC-A party leadership to reinstate former deputy mayor Tinashe Kambarami.

The MDC- A provincial executive and the national executive tried to bring Mr Kambarami through a back door .The secretary Alderman Enerst Rafomoyo wrote councillor Mguni a letter instructing him to reinstate Mr Kambarami.

Alderman Rafomoyo claimed that he was in consultation with both the provincial and the national leadership. The secretary works under mayor Mguni. Mguni refused to comply.

Part of Rafamoyo’ s letter to Mguni states that there was nothing wrong in reinstating former ward 3 councillor Kambarami in his position. The letter added that he should be reinstated with all his priviledges and condition.

Party sources claim that plans are at an advanced stage to bring the moyor Mguni before the party’ s disciplinary action because he defied Nelson Chamisa’ s position.

Mr Kambarami was removed from his position through a court ruling by justice Thompson Mabhikwa . The judge ruled that his election as councilor was unlawful in 2018. Kambarami had a criminal record of theft when he became councillor of ward 3 last year.
