WATCH LIVE as Gambakwe looks at the arrest of over 200 people in Harare over the trading in ZIG. Most of those arrested are not illegal foreign currency traders but unsuspecting people that were caught buying airtime or changing small amounts less than $10. There is currently no formal way to trade in the ZIG. The black market rate for the ZIG is now between 1usd to 20 and 30 ZIG, a premium of over 75%.
The 200 arrested people will b e appearing in court today.
Prices in the shops have skyrocketed and the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange has responded similarly.
