18 October 2019

RE: Demand for the removal of Mbuya Nehanda statue from Mzilikazi Art Craft Centre.

Cc: Bulawayo City council

Cc : Town Clerk

Cc : Bulawayo Residents

Cc: Mzilikazi Residents.

MRP hereby demand for the removal of Mbuya Nehanda statue from Mzilikazi Art Craft Centre

They added that among other reasons for their demand is that Mbuya Nehanda was insignificant in Bulawayo. The letter was signed by MRP Mqondisi Moyo.

They suggested that the city council must consider erecting relevant statues of people like King Mzilikazi and queen Lozikeyi.

MRP has also asked the city of Bulawayo to consider renaming roads which were named by the names of people who were born outside Matabeleland.

MRP has been accused of being tribalistic in the past. Recently they successfully applied for the removal of MDC deputy mayor Tinashe Kambarami.
