The European Union has suspended the US$5million financial support to Zimbabwe Electoral Commission project.

The EU is suspending the funds following the concerns raised by several International election obsevers in the just ended elections.

The primary goal of the project was to enhance ZEC’s institutional and technical capabilities to fulfil its constitutional mandate.

Meanwhile, EU said it will continue monitoring developments in Zimbabwe adding that it is committed to collaborate with the government, independent commissions, civil society, and other stakeholders in promoting democracy, human rights and rule of law.
