Self exiled politician Saviour Kasukuwere’s application of direct access to the Constitutional Court has been dismissed.

Kasukuwere was challenging a ruling disqualifying him from contesting in the August 23 election as an independent presidential candidate.

In a ruling read out by Deputy Chief Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza, the court threw out the appeal on the basis that the matter brought by Kasukuwere was an appeal in disguise, saying all remedies are supposed to be exhausted at the Supreme Court.

Kasukuwere’s lawyer, Jaqueline Sande said they are still fighting to get him on the ballot paper and would make sure Zimbabweans are not frogmarched to a compromised election.
