Themba Mliswa is joining forces with CCC leader Nelson Chamisa to call for United Nations supervised elections to avoid a contested outcome.

Mliswa posted on his Twitter account that the upcoming 2023 elections must be supervised and observed.

He said: “there have been calls for UN supervision of local elections. I’m open to that. We have been pushing to be included into the global village and these are the sentiments coming from them.”

Zimbabwe has a history of contested elections. In 2018 Chamisa refused to concede defeat to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, whom he accused of rigging with the aid of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec).

The outspoken legislator  Mliswa said UN monitored elections will help end the continued post-electoral disputes.
