The government has banned Nelson Chamisa’s film “President,” produced by Danish filmmaker Camilla Nielsson.

The Oscar-shortlisted documentary is about  Zimbabwe’s corrupt 2018 presidential election.

The government reportedly banned the film because it has the potential to incite violence as the country gears up for presidential elections in 2023.

Nielsson is challenging the ruling in Zimbabwe’s constitutional court, promising a long legal battle ahead.

He said: “We have been waiting since last year for a final decision and now it’s here. The Zimbabwean government has decided to ban PRESIDENT from being screened in the country where it matters most. We will challenge this ban in the Constitutional Court. Stay tuned!”
