Atleast eight members  of the National Patriotic Front (NPF) and five from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) have  defected to Zanu-PF, joining a long list of people who have ditched opposition parties in favour of the ruling party.

The members defected ahead of the much anticipated by-elections.

The elections are expected to take place on the 26th of March, 2022.

The members defected after  former MDC-T stalwart, Blessing Chebundo last year opened the floodgates after defecting from the opposition to rejoin the ruling party which he served during his youth.

Meanwhile, Zanu-PF wants to reclaim Kwekwe Central and Mbizo constituencies which were won by opposition parties in 2018.

Kwekwe Central became vacant following the death of the constituency’s MP Masango “Blackman” Matambanadzo in 2019, while Mbizo fell vacant following the recall of Settlement Chikwinya of CCC from Parliament.
