Award Winning independent journalist, Hopewell Chinono is celebrating his 50th birthday.

In a post on Facebook, the former pence’s foreign correspondent said he celebrates his birthday with a mixture of joy and madness.

“Today I turn 50 and I celebrate.I do so with a mixture of joy and sadness knowing that whilst I have all that I need. Many 50 year olds have NEVER owned a home, or held a decent job, many 50 years olds are dying without Hospital care. I am grateful for the gift of life,” said Chinono.

Chinono further said that he is sad as many 50 year olds are dying across the country without access to hospital care and living broken lives.

“This sadness is what makes me speak against the political tyranny in this country, and the looting of public funds and the plunder of our natural resources,” said Chinono.

Chinono further wished a happy birthday to everyone who was born on 26 March including his friend Tsitsi Chawatama.

The independent journalist who has been arrested multiple times vowed that he will stay away from social media.

“I will sit in my garden and reflect on my life, and for a change, I will stay away from social media in order to rest my old bones,” said Chinono
