The political landscape in Zimbabwe reached a milestone today after MDC-T President, Douglas Mwonzora, was officially recognized by ED Mnangagwa’ s government.

SENATOR D MWONZORA

Mwonzora was officially flown to Victoria Falls in a chartered Air Zimbabwe flight, together with more than 20 other political leaders for the launch of the second phase of Zimbabwe’s vaccination program.

The invitation  of Mwonzora by Mnangagwa came as a big surprise as this is the first time that an opposition leader has shared the stage with any President of Zimbabwe, since independence in 1980.

Gambakwe Media sources revealed that Mwonzora has secretly agreed with ED Mnangagwa to join POLAD. Close advisers have reportedly advised Mwonzora that Mnangagwa will intervene in his current dispute with Khuphe over the December 2020 extraordinary congress.

Senior members in the MDC-T aligned to Khuphe were planning to challenge Mwonzora’s win at the Supreme court.

My Predictions

It is natural that Mnangagwa will have to appoint Mwonzora into some form of position in his government to reciprocate his approach to politics. If he does not, Mnangagwa will have missed a golden opportunity.

  1. Mwonzora will soon be appointed official leader of the opposition.
  2. Thokozani Khuphe has been replaced in POLAD by Mwonzora.
  3. This move precedes a some form of GNU.
