The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has revealed that Nelson Chamisa ‘s recalled Proportional representative MPs have been replaced because there were no valid objections.
This is despite the fact that the MDC Alliance claims to have submitted at least 300 000 objections nationwide with ZEC.
In the same statement, ZEC also clarified that they can not proclaim dates on which by elections should be held, but can only propose dates to the President, ED Mnangagwa, who is responsible for proclaiming the elections dates.
The Zimbabwe government has suspended by-elections indefinitely citing the Covid-19 pandemic.
Yesterday, MDC-T proportional representative MPs and Senators were sworn in, including Dr Thokozani Khuphe, who immediately declared that she was now the leader of the opposition.
