Secretary General of Zimbabwe Council of Churches Reverend Kenneth Mtata says the Church has moral obligation to confront the government on the challenges faced by Zimbabweans everyday.

In an Interview with Peter Ndoro of SABC, Rev Mtata said the humanitarian crisis is already existing on the public domain thus there is nothing wrong with the church condemning the sufferings of the people.

He added that the government should be questioned on the plight of the people, the humanitarian crisis, dilapidated economic and health sector which have deepened due to the effects of Covid-19 lockdown because the challenges are quiet overwhelming.

He said the church expects a response from the head of state, addressing issues of nation-building. It is time to speak on the long outstanding issues troubling Zimbabwe.

Reverend Kenneth said the denial by the government of a existing humanitarian crisis in Zimbabwe leaves one wondering if the government has its own reality outside that of the general populace.

Reverend Mtata said the government should show genuine interests in addressing some of the problems people are facing.
