Former deputy finance minister Terrence Mukupe says Emmerson Mnangagwa spends sleepless nights thinking about Improving Zimbabwe hence claims that there are public unrest, war, abductions and police brutality in Zimbabwe are false.

In an interview with Newsroom Afrika, Mukupe said Zimbabwe is a constitutional democracy and a country that is under pinned by the rule of law.

He added that Mnangagwa is a democrat who belives in the protection of the rights of citizens and the well being of all Zimbabweans.

Moreover, Mukupe called  Zimbabwe’s neighbors, partners and investors to ignore fake sensationalised news and continue to support and invest in the country.

Speaking on the arrest of prominent journalist Hopewell Chin’ono, Mukupe said he has utmost trust that Hopewell will be given a fair and impartial hearing.

Chinono was arrested on the 20th of July on charges of inciting public violence through his twitter account calling for the illegal removal of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government without going to elections.

Mukupe blamed the dilapidated prison facilities on sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.

Mukupe said the #Zimbabweanlivesmatter# is a good campaign but it is misplaced, people are reciting the public unrest that took place in 2017 and 2018 as recent incidents.

Zimbabwe is currently under lockdown and public gatherings are not permitted hence there is actually no confrontation between state security agencies and the public.

“I will dare Julius Malema to mobilise people and march through the streets of Joburg and see if the police are not going to crack him down”.

Mukupe said It will be irresponsible for any government to allow public gatherings amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
