Douglas Mwonzora has executed a massive power grab fter strategically pushing aside Thokozani Khuphe and is now set to be the next MDC president after the MDC Extraordinary Congress.
Mwonzora has been working with grassroots structures and has now secured the support of Harare, Mutare, Bulawayo, Midlands and Masvingo structures for his presidential bid.
On the other hand, Khuphe has been stuck in Harare where a few of her supporters live. Khuphe has been unable to make any headway within the structures as Mwonzora and his team have effectively shut her out.
In a Shocking development, Witness Dube and Nyikadzino, who had been given positions in Khuphe ‘s office, gave defected and are now working on Mwonzora’ s campaign.
Witness Dube, who was Thokozani Khupe ‘s Spokesman in the past, is now Mwonzora’ s campaign manager for Bulawayo.
Key members of Chamisa ‘s executive, especially MPs and Senators, are now Backing Mwonzora, as they are afraid of being recalled.
Many provincial leaders who were sidelined by the Chamisa Faction are taking this opportunity to hit back at Chamisa appointees, most of whom do not live in the areas where they were appointed.
Mwonzora is hoping that Chamisa does not show up at the extraordinary Congress.
The eventually game plan is to finish up Chamisa with fraud or embezzlement charges just before or after the congess.
As for Khuphe, she will likely retain her Vice President position, a position that she will likely consider to be a loss as she was President of her own political party.
