Hopewell Chin’ono has trashed the new Zimbabwe currency which is to be introduced in two weeks times saying that it will be a dead currency in the day it is introduced.
Today, John Mangudya announced that Zimbabwe will have its own currency in two weeks and released a statement on the deliberations of the monetary policy committee.
Chin’ono says there is nothing of substance in the statement except bluffing as usual.
He said the new currency is the key. He said that what is needed are political reforms not a new currency.
Hopewell says a currency reflects the economy, therefore, the currency will be dead on the date it arrives.
Eddie Cross had recently disclosed that government will in two months introduce a new currency. The government distanced itself from Eddie Cross statement but events now show that he was correct.
