Bona Mugabe’s husband Simbarashe Mutsahuni Chikore is reported to have committed bigamy by marrying the late President Robert Mugabe’s daughter while he was still married to Margaret Jeanine Brooks in the United States.
Chikore married Brooks in St. Louis County, Missouri, US, on 9 October 2000, while he tied the knot to Bona on 31 March 2014.
However, Chikore only obtained a dissolution of their marriage on 23 April 2014 almost two months after marrying Bona.
Chikore’s civil marriage to Bona might be rendered invalid as bigamy is a criminal offence in Zimbabwe.
