President Emmerson Mnangagwa has granted a state assisted funeral to late arts veteran Cont Mdladla Mhlanga.

In a statement, the President’s office describe Mhlanga as an internationally acclaimed playwright, filmmaker and creative director who came as a trail blazer in the country’s creative and cultural industries.

Mhlanga passed on Monday morning at United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) after a short illness.

Mhlanga will be buried on Saturday at his rural home in Lupane, Matabeleland North province with the memorial service planned for Friday at Amakhosi township square.
