Samuel Eto’o has been sentenced to 22 months of suspended prison for defrauding €3.8m from the Spanish Public Treasury during his time at Barcelona (2006-2009).

Eto’o will have to pay four fines adding up to €1.8m after admitting to tax fraud in court.

Samuel has blamed the crime on Jose Maria Mesalles, his agent at the time. The ex-footballer has even filed a lawsuit against him.

Mesalles has also been found guilty as part of the same lawsuit. He has received one year of suspended prison and a fine in the region of €900,000.
