The outcome of the disciplinary hearing of suspended Home Affairs Director of Permits, Roney Marhule, will be known in May.

Marhule is being charged with gross negligence, dishonesty, and non compliance with the immigration act.

Dishonesty

The Department alleges that Marhule approved Bushiri ‘s documents while they were still in Malawi.

Negligence

The Department attached his church’ s bank account as supporting evidence that he had a net worth of R2, 5 million. However church funds can notbe relied upon as a source of funds.

Non Compliance with immigration act.

Bushiri has been in the country on a visitors visa which ought to have resulted in the rejection of his application.

The Department also said the purchase of a jet for R2, 5 million by Bushiri should have rang alarm bells for money laundering.
