Illegal Zimbabweans will be removed from Diespsloot following a spike in shootings and crime.
Stakeholders held a meeting with SAPS and office of the MEC on Monday to come up with the solution to rising crime.
Diespsloot will be shutdown for two days, with residents demanding more police units in the area.
Johannesburg police spokesperson Brenda Muridili, said police have marshalled extra units to the area to try and contain the protest.
“The situation in Diepsloot is peaceful. Protest action has not yet commenced, but there is high police visibility in the area for any eventuality”, she said

Good Evening Diepsloot Residents
Since December 2021 Diepsloot Extension 01 in particular became the heaven of criminals. Several gunshots related death recorded .
On Saturday the 02 April during the night, 07 people shot dead at Ext 01.
Above that 14 more people sustain serious injuries
Stakeholders meeting with SAPS and office of the MEC met on Monday the 04th April 2022 to can try and come up with the solution. The meeting didnt have any solution
Leadership from various structures around Diepsloot met again on the 05th April 2022 at Diepsloot Youth Centre Ext 02 where a descion taken for a Total Shutdown for Two Days (From Tuesday Evening till Thursday)
We demand the following
– Minister of Police to comeback again in Diepsloot and talk to us regarding promises he made in February 2020 after the Community embark in Total Shutdown
– The Deployment of SAPS TRT with an immediate effect
– The Deployment of SARS and Home Affairs to remove all illegal immigrants out of the Township
– Additional of patrollers and CPF members
– Additional SAPS members
– Additional SAPS Cars
– The removal of all Nigerian Gold shops around the Township as is alleged that they contribute in drugs selling
This means: No Schools to be attend. No movements of people to and from work. No shops to open. No services to be rendered EXCEPT THE CLINICS
