A group of small-scale and artisanal miners formed a national association, Zimbabwe artisanal miners association as a way of eliminating challenges they face in the mining sector.

The Artisanal Miners Association (Zama)’s key mandate is the formalisation of artisanal and small-scale miners’ operations across the eight mining provinces in the country.

The association’s president, Mrs Constance Muchoni has invited those interested to join in a bid to build the nation.

“Zimbabwe Artisanal Miners Association. Hit my inbox if you are seriously interested in Mining. Let’s work together to build our own nation. Open to everyone. #Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo# #Mukorokoza Munhu#”.

It is estimated that there are between 500,000 and 1,5 million artisanal and small scale miners operating in zimbabwe and of these only 16% are registered according to the mines and minerals regulation act Chapter 21;05.
