Popular award winning Zimbabwean journalist, Hopewell Chinono has thrown his weight behind Advocate Fadzayi Mahere ‘s bid to replace Tendai Biti and Welshman Ncube as the only Vice President of Chamisa’ s new party, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).
Chin’ono took to social media to back Fadzayi;
I am just gonna endorse the right people and let the chips fall where they may,” he posted
After receiving a backlash, Chin’ono turned around and claimed that the tweets were fake.
CCC is yet to announce its leadership structures and fireworks are expected between the eventual winners and losers.
Mahere has been engaging in a low key campaign using her influence on Chamisa and is now the front runner for the CCC VP position.
Earlier this week, Mahere ‘strategist, Kuda Musasiwa, slammed Dr Thokozani Khupe after reports surfaced that Khupe was demanding the VP position before she joined the CCC.
Chamisa is reported to be fed up with the older generation who came from the Morgan Tsvangirai era, and prefers to lead a new group of younger leaders in CCC who will attract youthful voters.
Chin’ono has became a powerful voice in the CCC with his huge following and is expected to eventually become the face of the CCC when Mahere leaves the powerful information secretary portifolo.
