High court Judge Munamato Mutevedzi is expected to testify in the trial of Marry Mubaiwa who allegedly lied that VP Chiwenga consented to legalise their marriage during the time he was of ill health.
Justice Mutevedzi was expected to solemnise the wedding during the time he was acting as chief magistrate.
Mubaiwa’s case began yesterday with Supreme Court judge Justice George Chiweshe distancing himself from Chiwenga and Mubaiwa’s alleged marriage fraud saga, saying that he was not responsible for solemnising their marriage.
Justice Chiweshe, the immediate past Judge President of the High Court, said this yesterday while testifying before Harare magistrate Lazini Ncube in a case where Mubaiwa is accused of fraudulently getting married to Chiwenga.
He told the court that he did not solemnise the marriage, but referred Mubaiwa to another marriage officer, now High Court judge, Justice Munamato Mutevedzi.
