Exiled former Minister of Information and Publicity, Professor Jonathan Moyo has urged the MDC-Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa to take legal steps in protecting their party name.

Moyo took to social media to advise Chamisa amid a wrangle between MDC Alliance and rival MDC-T led by Senator Douglas Mwonzora over the name.

“If the MDC-A has not yet taken the necessary legal steps to protect “Citizen Convergence for Change (CCC)”, as a name or whatever, they must run to do so after reading this,” tweeted Moyo.

MDC Alliance Secretary-General, Chalton Hwende, responded suggesting that the main issue to be addressed was the independence of the judiciary.

There have been reports that, like many other institutions, the judiciary had been captured by the executive.

Nelson Chamisa is set to battle with former Highlanders and Coventry City striker, Peter Ndlovu, Godfrey Tsenengamu, long time rival Emmerson Mnangagwa, Douglas Mwonzora among others in the 2023 presidential elections.
