Alfred Tome popularly known as Chief Beperere has died.

He was the Chief of Zvimba District, the area where Robert Mugabe was from.

Nickson Museyamwa took to social media to confirm the death of Chief Zvimba.

“Chief Zvimba born Alfred Tome died on Saturday after a short illness. He gained popularity by wanting to exhume the body of RG Mugabe, posted Nickson Museyamwa.

Local Government and Public Works Deputy Minister and Zvimba North Legislator Marrian Chombo also confirmed the bad news.

This is a major blow to Zvimba North following the death of yet another prominent person from the area.

Zvimba North lost one of its longest serving councillors, Cde Robin Bailes Smith (82) whose tenure stretched for over 30 years.
