MDC Alliance members Joana Mamombe and Cecilia Chimbiri have been denied bail.
Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) made a second bid to get Harare West MP Honourable Mamombe and MDC Alliance activist Cecilia Chimbiri out of Chikurubi Maximum Prison earlier today.
However, Magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti-Guwuriro dismissed the bail application.
Magistrate Guwuriro ruled that the duo should remain in prison and wait for commencement of their trial on 5 May as there were no changed circumstances to warrant their release from jail on bail.
The duo is accused of breaching Covid-19 regulations after holding a press conference at the Harare Magistrates’ Court.
