MDC T Vice-president Thokozani Khupe has reported Douglas Mwonzora for fraud at the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s Commercial Crimes Unit (CCU) following their meeting last week.
Khupe is said to have left the meeting and advised other party leaders that she had been summoned by the police to give her statement about the missing $6,3 million and she went and gave the statement.
In December after losing elections to Mwonzora, Khupe accused him of defrauding the party of $6.3 million.
The reports that they were discussing a cordial working relationship are therefore not true.
Other witnesses in the alleged embezzlement of the party funds also gave their statements, with Khupe confirming that party funds indeed went missing.
Mwonzora’s spokesperson Lloyd Damba has however denied the allegations and said they were not aware of the reports.
“We are not aware of that, It hasn’t come to our attention. We can only comment when it becomes official. Khupe is our vice-president and a long-serving deputy president after Gibson Sibanda”.
