MDC A spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere says it is deeply concerning that the Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission is not addressing corruption scandals cited in the daily maverick report.

In an interview on Newsroom Afrika, Mahere said some of the scandals published by the daily maverick are scandals that have been in the public domain for some time however ZACC is failing to act constitutionally.

She added that there is an elite angle to state capture whereby government officials are taking control of all institutions including the National Prosecuting Authority, ZACC.

She said Emmerson Mnangagwa’s anti-corruption fight has been used as a weapon to attack as opposed to a genuine sincere tool to bring those responsible for corruption to account

Zimbabwe loses over us$3 billion to corruption every single year while 67% of Zimbabweans are living in extreme poverty.

Mahere said Zimbabwe is not poor but it is ill managed by a corrupt violent dictator, concerned about looting instead of putting the people first.

Mahere added that the reason why the country is where it is, is because the system has failed hence Zimbabwe needs deep political and ecomical reform.
