The Lilongwe high court has postponed an appeal challenging a lower court ruling which declared the arrest of Shepherd Bushiri and his wife as illegal.

eNCA reports that the Malawian state lawyers will have to wait until mid December to find out if they can appeal to that decision.

According to the ETV reporter Pule Jones, Bushiri’s legal team said they will flex their legal capabilities to ensure that they protect their client and delay the extradition process which might take years.

“They say that this matter has been reviewed as a criminal proceeding but it’s supposed to be reviewed as a civil extradition,” said Pule.

Adding on legal experts say with the going on situation, things are working in favour of Bushiri’s legal team.

Prophet Bushiri fled out of South Africa while on bail facing charges of fraud, money laundering and rape.
