Vice President and Minister of Health and Child Care Constantino Chiwenga says to ensure to minimise the spread of HIV, the country is targeting populations like sex workers whose occupation dynamics increase their risk of getting infected.

In his speech during Zimbabwe World AIDS campaign, the minister said the government is focusing towards reducing death rate of those living with the virus to the death rate of the general population.

He advised the public to help the government in the fight of the virus.

“We are all affected and we should stand together in addressing HIV”, said Chiwenga.

Adding on the minister said the government will continue improving health system including advocating or allocating to procure drugs.

“Our vision is to modernize health care services at all levels and promote innovation based on research and lessons learnt”, he added.

The world AIDS day is commemorated every year on the 2nd of December. This year’s theme was ‘Global solidarity. Shared responsibility’.
