Terence Simbi, author of the book, Zimbabwe, Installing a true democratic state says the command structure in the Zimbabwe military was distrubed during the military coup in November 2017.

Simbi says the condition in Zimbabwe are now similar to the ones that existed during the coup on Mugabe.

Simbi said, failure by the major political parties in Zimbabwe to allow contestation are making it impossible for members with presidential ambitions to declare their intentions openly.

Simbi said in ZANU-PF, since its a former liberation movement, any disputes will be settled using the military.

Simbi said there is need for ED Mnangagwa to open up democratic space and similarly Nelson Chamisa needs to open up space in the MDC for interested party members to contest for the presidency.
