MDC-T Spokesman, Khliphani Phugeni has apologised to MDC-T Secretary General, Douglas Mwozora for attacking him in a secretly recorded phone call that was released last week.

Phugeni said he met with Dr Thokozani Khupe advised her that he was willing to be subjected to any disciplinary action that can arise from what he said in the Audio.

Phugeni said on the same evening, he also went to Dr Mwonzora’s house and begged for forgiveness on his knees and Mwonzora told him to stand up and said he was forgiven. Phugeni said Mwonzora was hurt about the accusations linking him to tribalism and violence.

Phugeni blamed a misinformation campaign by members of the MDC Alliance for his outburst and said he allowed the pressure of the job to overcome him.

Asked why he did not step down, Phugeni said there is no need for him to step down.

Phugeni said he withdraws his statement that Mwonzora is not a good leader. He said he spent the whole of last week with Dr Mwonzora and the issue is now water under the bridge.
