United Nations Secretary-General and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights have called on Zimbabwe’s authorities to live up to their human rights obligations after Hopewell Chinono was denied bail again, SABC news reported.

Angela Quinton a member of the NewYork based Committee to Protect Journalists also labeled the decision to deny bail to an investigative journalist in Zimbabwe a vindictive move by authorities.

She said that Zimbabwe has the worst record in terms of harassment of journalists world over and as a Committee they have taken note of all the cases arising from Zimbabwe.

This comes after High Court Judge dismissed an appeal for bail by Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono, and this implies that his week-long detainment over charges of inciting violence could continue indefinitely.
