Reistated MDC T acting President Thokozani Khuphe says she has always been there for the party since inception.

Khupe said she worked with the late president Morgan Tsvangirai for 26 years, she started working when she was 31-years by then, Tsvangirai was the Secretary General of the Zimbabwe congress of trade unions while she was the SG of the women’s wing in that union

Khupe said by that time there were only two women in the general council herself and Pauline Mupariwa together with the late President.

After ZANU PF deviated from the main reasons of the liberation struggle, the MDC was formed following an extra ordinary congress which was held in Mutare granting Tsvangirai a go ahead to form a political party

There after a general council meeting was held which directed eight people to prepare for the formation of the new party. The eight include, Gibson Sibanda who was President, Isaac Matongo who was the vice president, Morgan Tsvangirai the Secretary General, Mudzengereri, Makuvaza, Gift Chimanikire, Pauline Mupariwa

A number of unions, movements and churches were brought together to form the party MDC

In 2000 a congress was held to elect the Leadership of the country and Khuphe was elected as the National executive member.

The Movement For Democratic Change is currently faced with leadership wrangles after the supreme ruled that Thokozani Khuphe is the legitimate leader of the MDC.
