The Zimbabwe government has this evening issued a statement on the abduction of MDC Alliance MPs Joanna Mamombe and Youth Leaders Cecillia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova.

The statement issued by the police contradicts earlier police statements. On the 13th, a police Spokesman said the two were in police custody, while the Ministry of information today said the three were never arrested.

In today’s statement, the Ministry says the three women were observed at Muchapondwa village on the night of the abduction.

The three women, while describing their ordeal from hospital explained that they were taken from the Harare Central police station and were driven away for a long time.

They were then taken into a hall where they were made to chant slogans while being abused.

It is clear that the information ministry statement is a lie.

This is an open admission by Zimbabwe Police that they handed the three women to their Abductors.
