Former MDC T official Obert Gutu has set the record straight following falsehoods about his Heritage.

My name is Obert Chaurura Gutu and my full traditional name is Chaurura Wegona Chinomukutu. I’m a proud descendant of Chaurura Wegona Chinomukutu 1, the mighty warrior who migrated from the Musana area of what is now Mashonaland Central province of Zimbabwe, settling in what is now known as Gutu District of Masvingo Province, in the early 19th century.
We are of KoreKore origin, Madyirapazhe, Chitovanedzavamwe, Chipazhamwongo, Chipungurochemafuta, Sambiri.
My forefather, Chaurura Wegona Chinomukutu 1, was a renowned warrior, famed for killing a rampaging rhinoceros that was harassing people in the Gutu District. Because the white settlers couldn’t properly pronounce the name Chinomukutu, they adulterated the name Chinomukutu to Gutu.I’m a proud member of the Madyirapazhe dynasty, the Royal clan of Gutu District.
My forefather is also famed for his heroics of driving out the Hungwe dynasty (vaera Shiri, vana Chasura), who were the original settlers of what is now known as Gutu District. The Hungwe dynasty were driven out of Gutu and they eventually settled in what is now known as Chivi District.
Royal blood runs in my vein and oh yes, I have got the rightful claim of one day being installed Chief Gutu. As a member of the 7th generation of the Chinomukutu dynasty, my official traditional name is Chaurura Wegona Chinomukutu V11.
