Zimbabwe lawyers today marched against police brutality which is a constitutional breach on the rights of citizens and an abuse power bestowed on them to enforce the law.

Lawyers handed petitions to the home affairs office and police department demanding police to stop their attacks on unarmed citizens, investigation of all police violence cases, amongst other noted concerns.

Doug Coltart who participated in the march said lawyers will continue to fight against human rights violations despite the state and police ignorance.

“We will continue to press on whilst representing our clients.

“The police and state haven’t responded to all of the atrocities committed since August last year and January this year so there is real possibility that the state will not respond” he said.

He added that human rights lawyers will continue to press and demand the respect of people’s rights.
