President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesperson George Charamba has blasted the renowned writer Tsitsi Dangarembga, accusing her of being a fraud after she made an appeal lobbying for International Intervention and Transitional Authority in Zimbabwe to the United Nations.

The appeal which requires 1, 500 signatories has so far been signed by 1,360.

Charamba on his twitter handle @jamwanda denounced the shift in areas of specialty made by Dangarembga.

“When you consider the revered role of a writer or artist in society, this kind of imported picture (by place and time)just makes Dangarembga a big fraud and i am disappointed,” he said.

He added that Dangarembga failed to gain political knowledge during her time with Professor Arthur Mutambara’s party.

“I suppose your initial foray into politics with Mtambara’s party imparted nothing to you by way of political knowledge,”he said.

Charamba urged Dangarembga to stick to writing books and making films suggesting that politics is not her field.

However, Dangarembga said that her decision is driven by the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Zimbabwe.
