ZANU-PF provinces largely boycotted the ZANU-PF meeting that was held to train PCC members in communicating the constitutional amendment Bill number 3. Bulawayo, Mashonaland West and Harare were the provinces that attended while the rest of the provinces were conspicuously absent. This comes as various factions within ZANU-PF are opposed to the ED2030law.

- On Sunday, 1 March 2026, two detectives from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare CID Homicide Division were fatally shot by a suspected armed robber in Zaka, Masvingo Province. Â The deceased have been identified as Bernard Chindeke (38) and McKenzie Chitowe (42). The shooting occurred in Ndume Village, Chimedza area, under Chief Ndanga. The detectives had tracked two armed robbery suspects to the village. They successfully apprehended one suspect in the early hours of Sunday morning. However, the second suspect opened fire on the officers during the operation. Detective Chindeke died instantly at the scene. Detective Chitowe was rushed to Ndanga Referral Hospital and later transferred toward Masvingo Provincial Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries en route. Police have launched an intensive manhunt for the remaining suspect, identified as Daniel Munyanyi (50) of Ndume Village.

Sasol Shares increase by 16% on Friday as war broke out in Iran. The gains added more than R10 billion to Sasol’s market value. Sasol’s market value now stands at just over R94 billion. Brent Crude: Rose to about $73 per barrel, the highest level since July of the previous year. About 20% of global daily oil consumption passes through the Strait of Hormuz.

- Helen Zille is campaigning to lead Johannesburg’s 6-million residents, asserting that 490,000 DA voters are required for an outright majority under a 50% turnout scenario, an increase from the 48% recorded in the 2021 elections. She envisions a five-year turnaround fueled by a R27.7bn allocation for service reforms to tackle a R64bn infrastructure backlog, specifically noting that Joburg Water only receives R1.3bn for capital expenditure despite generating R11.9bn in revenue.
