3. Court Ruling – Sonja Madzikanda vs. Wicknell Chivayo (Zimbabwe, 15 June 2026)

High Court ruled Sonja Madzikanda was never legally married to Wicknell Chivayo.

She cannot claim spousal maintenance or assets.

Chivayo said any customary marriage ended in 2024.

However, Chivayo must still pay US$5 million for child maintenance (for their two children).

Madzikanda expressed sadness, calling it “a sad day for our culture.”
