AFRICA

    • The Zambian government’s counsel, Ben Stoop, maintained that the family is violating a binding initial agreement made on 14 June 2025, where they originally agreed that President Hakainde Hichilema would host the state funeral and receive foreign dignitaries.

    • By prior agreement pending this appeal, Lungu’s body was transferred to a mortuary in Pretoria East, with the Zambian government covering the storage costs. The family retains supervised access to the body until the SCA issues its final, definitive order.
