Controversial Zimbabwean comedienne and socialite Felistas Murata, popularly known as Mai TT, is facing a US$100,000 lawsuit over allegations of defamation of character made by prominent Harare businesswoman Shingai Ziwange-Jere.

The legal action stems from posts on Mai TT’s official Facebook page, “Mai TTs Diaries,” where she accused Ziwange-Jere of issuing death threats and manipulating Zimbabwe’s judiciary system for personal gain.

Ziwange-Jere, who is married to Murehwa West legislator and CAPS United football club owner Farai Jere, alleges that the statements have seriously damaged her reputation both personally and professionally.

The lawsuit underscores growing tensions in Zimbabwe’s public sphere where social media posts and livestreams are increasingly becoming the battleground for personal, political, and legal feuds.

Mai TT, known for her dramatic online presence and recent brushes with the law, has not yet issued a public statement in response to the lawsuit.

Legal experts say the case could test the limits of online speech, defamation laws, and celebrity accountability in the digital age.
