The Global Methodist Church (GMC) in Zimbabwe, a newly established denomination that has emerged from a split with the United Methodist Church (UMC), was officially inaugurated on Easter Saturday in Murehwa.
Reverend Forbes Matonga has been named the interim leader of the GMC in Zimbabwe as the church awaits formal ecclesiastical appointments.
During the launch event, Rev. Matonga stated, “The UMC’s acceptance of homosexuality prompted our departure. We can no longer remain part of a church that compromises the authority of scripture. Our stance is unequivocal: we uphold the Word of God.”
