A public row has erupted between two prominent clergymen after Apostle Talent Chiwenga was accused by Apostle Chibanda of misusing church funds meant for building a congregation sanctuary.
Chibanda claims that Chiwenga instructed his followers to contribute large sums in some cases up to 100% of their incomes under the guise of raising money to construct a church.
However, the funds were allegedly diverted towards the purchase of a mansion in Centurion, South Africa.
To support his allegations, Chibanda shared what he says are receipts of payments made by Chiwenga’s church members.
He further criticised Chiwenga for hypocrisy, saying the preacher once condemned churches for demanding 10% tithes but later imposed even heavier financial obligations on his own followers.
“The money that was meant for a church ended up buying his mansion. Now his followers are defending him online while they are the ones who lost everything,” Chibanda wrote.
