In a heart-wrenching incident, Lillian Rusike, a 22-year-old student, took her own life on Wednesday after discovering that her boyfriend was married. The news has sent shockwaves through the campus community and beyond.
Lillian’s close friend, Mitchell Gumbo revealed that Lillian was a devout Roman Catholic who was studying at Great Zimbabwe University and was actively involved in her local church.
“She was very religious and lived her life by the book,” Mitchell stated. “Lillian was excited about her future with this man and had dreams of getting married.”
However, their relationship took a tragic turn when Lillian learned of her boyfriend’s marital status, which she had been unaware of for almost two years. According to Mitchell, this revelation contradicted everything Lillian believed in and valued.
“As soon as she found out he was married, everything changed for her. It shattered her world,” he said. “She was so devoted to him that she thought her life was over.”
